Exeter staged a spirited second-half fightback to salvage a point in a 1-1 draw with promotion hopefuls Southampton.
Southampton dominated the opening 45 minutes and after Rickie Lambert had seen a shot brilliantly blocked by Rob Edwards, they took the lead.
Richard Duffy failed to deal with a free-kick at the back post and Adam Lallana took full advantage by firing the ball into the far corner.
The Grecians had failed to register a shot at goal in the opening half, but with their first effort after the break, they equalised. Scott Golbourne delivered a corner to the far post where captain Matt Taylor powered in a header past Kelvin Davis.
Chances were few and far between on a heavy pitch, but Lambert saw a free-kick deflect narrowly wide for the Saints, while Exeter's Ryan Harley was off target with a set-piece of his own.
The Grecians hit the post in stoppage-time through substitute Bertie Cozic, while former Exeter defender Danny Seaborne stabbed a shot over the bar for Saints with the last kick of the match.
