Exeter have completed the signing of experienced Leicester midfielder Matt Oakley on an emergency loan.

The 34-year-old spent 12 years at Southampton before moving to Derby in 2006 and was then snapped up by the Foxes for £500,000 in 2008.

The former captain has been restricted to just two Carling Cup appearances this season and is looking forward to playing his part for the Grecians, telling the club's official website: "The challenge that Paul (Tisdale) has given me is an exciting one."

He added: "I want to work with the players and help them.

"It's very good to be be here.

"I was impressed with training, the professionalism, the set up and the targets.

Manager Tisdale was delighted to have recruited Oakley, saying: "It boosts the team. We need someone who can make good decisions and Matt was an ideal choice."
