Exeter manager Paul Tisdale hailed his side's battling qualities as they picked up their first win since January 16 with a 1-0 victory over Bristol Rovers.
Not since the Grecians downed Leeds had the Devon side tasted victory but James Dunne's 90th-minute header was enough for City to pick up a massive win against their West Country neighbours.
"What a difference a goal makes and a late one at that. We couldn't have timed it any better really in terms of only giving ourselves a few minutes to hold on at the end," Tisdale said.
"It was a fantastic evening for us and much deserved for us. It was a real team performance, starting with the groundsman who put on an excellent surface and the crowd who were magnificent from the first to the last.
"They were brilliant in a difficult situation, but they kept with us and then the team, who were excellent. They played their football in the first half and it was a good passing performance and the second half was a good defensive performance.
"We got the goal with a set piece, which we have been practising."
