Paul Heffernan's first goal for Bristol Rovers clinched a well deserved 2-1 victory over promotion-chasing Charlton.
The on-loan striker from Doncaster burst clear on 63 minutes to bury an unstoppable right footed shot past Rob Elliott.
Centre-back Steve Elliott volleyed the home side ahead on 14 minutes following a Stuart Campbell corner headed on by Chris Lines.
Charlton gained an injury time consolation when Therry Racon, hammered a 20-yard shot pas Mikkel Andersen.
It was a bad night for the visitors from the opening minute when Grant Basey was stretchered off with a serious leg injury following a late challenge by Dominic Blizzard which earned him a booking. The Rovers player might easily have been red-carded.
The visitors never recovered and Akpo Sodje wasted their best chance, heading wide on 34 minutes.
Rovers also had a player stretchered off on 75 minutes when Lines was injured as he tried to block a shot.
An incident packed match saw Rovers quicker to the ball and Andy Williams, a first half substitute for the injury Jo Kuffour should have scored on 25 minutes, failing to beat Elliott when clear.
