Steve Guinan bagged 15 goals in over 40 appearances for Hereford last season and has scored 57 times for the club in two stints at the club totalling four years. But where his future lies is anybody’s guess....

WILL YOU BE AT EDGAR STREET NEXT SESON?

My ideal scenario would be to stay at Hereford. The club offered me a contract, which would involve me taking a pay cut and talks have reached a stalemate. It is a case of keeping my options open at present and seeing who else is out there but I have no desire to leave Hereford at present.

WHAT WERE YOUR THOUGHTS ON LAST SEASON?

It was an extremely disappointing season as we all had ambitions and hope that we would be able to establish ourselves at League One and finish around mid-table. We certainly didn’t expect to end up in a dog fight and be relegated.

WERE THERE ANY MITIGATING CIRUMSTANCES?
We had a lot of serious injuries that kept players out of action for quite a long time. Also, the loan system that had worked so well for us when we were promoted didn’t pay off last season. A lot of the players who came in on loan this year didn’t work out for us and weren’t good enough.

YOU SCORED 15 GOALS ON A PERSONAL LEVEL DIDN’T YOU?
I played with six different strike partners at various times during the season but managed to get to 15 goals. I was quite often the main focal point of the attack but we struggled a lot with injuries and we were quite often down to our last 16 players towards the end of the season.

WAS IT A SURPRISE THAT GRAHAM TURNER THE CHAIRMAN PARTED COMPANY WITH GRAHAM TURNER THE MANAGER?

It was a strange week. I personally found it a surprise as he has been in charge for so long but he has now passed the job on to John Trewick who has been assistant manager for a good while so I don’t think there will be a huge change. Graham will still be around as he is director of football and chairman.
