Scunthorpe manager Nigel Adkins is facing a defensive injury crisis ahead of Friday's League One play-off semi-final first leg at home to MK Dons.

Andrew Wright is a doubt with a facial injury, while Joseph Mills was on crutches after Saturday's 1-1 draw with Tranmere after injuring his ankle.

Marcus Williams missed the match through illness but it is Wright who is causing Adkins most concern.

The Iron boss told the club's official website: "He's in a right mess, he's got a horrible facial injury and you feel for him because he's been top drawer for us.

"From his nose, all the way down to his lip, it's been totally ripped apart. It was a horrible injury but it's been all stitched together.

"Joseph Mills came off injured too, while Marcus Williams missed the match so we're struggling in the left-back positions."
