Oldham midfielder JP Kalala is set to undergo an operation next Tuesday.
Kalala, who is currently on loan at Grimsby, has been suffering from a stress reaction to a bone near his groin and is expected to be sidelined for at least two weeks.
Due to the terms of his loan agreement, the 27-year-old trains at Boundary Park for part of each week and Oldham physio Marc Czuczman admits an operation is the best way forward.
Czuczman told Oldham`s official website: "JP has been playing games for Grimsby but the symptoms have meant he has been fading in the final 20 minutes.
"We have decided the best thing for the player and Grimsby is to get him operated on now."Ã
