Leeds midfielder Neil Kilkenny remains a transfer target for Yorkshire rivals Doncaster.

The Elland Road side rejected a bid from Rovers for the 23-year-old earlier this week.

Kilkenny has been a long-time target for Doncaster and assistant manager Richard O`Kelly is hopeful a deal can be struck.

"He is a player we have been interested in for 18 months and a player who we will continue to be interested in," O`Kelly told The Star.

He added: "We made a discreet enquiry and were told he is still part of their plans so we left it at that - but everybody has got a price.

"I first saw him as a 16-year-old playing for Birmingham City against Aston Villa in a reserve match and he ran the show - he was absolutely magnificent. He had a lot of confidence and he is a player we have kept tabs on ever since.

"We were interested in him when he left Birmingham but he chose Leeds."
