Paul Lambert saluted his "brilliant" players after Norwich survived late pressure to move five points clear at the top of League One with a 1-0 win over Oldham.

Grant Holt's 25th goal of the season sealed victory but the Canaries were pushed all the way by the relegation battlers.

Lambert's side have now won 11 of their last 13 games and are taking real advantage of a slip in form by nearest challengers Leeds.

"We cannot influence anyone else so we are just concentrating on ourselves, and at the moment we are doing fine," said the Scot.

"We have done brilliantly to get ourselves in this position because at the start of the season people just wanted to reach the play-offs. We do not have the resources of other clubs and some of our lads are young, but they are doing terrific."

He continued: "Oldham is a tough place to come and the conditions made it difficult, so I am delighted with the win."
