Having changed managers for fun during his reign as both Portsmouth and Leicester, chairman Milan Mandaric has now settled on someone who reminds him of Harry.
Mandaric enjoyed great success with Harry Redknapp at Pompey, and he can he now believes he has another gem in the shape of Nigel Pearson.
After
Leicester had clinched promotion back to the Championship with a 2-0 win at Southend, Milan insisted: “Two of the best managers I have had are Harry and now Nigel.”
Mandaric, 70, has gone through six different bosses in his two years at the Walkers Stadium — but it is Pearson, 45, who has made the biggest impression.
He said: “Nigel has done an unbelievable job. He knows how to handle people and players. There’s no jumping up and down.
“Nigel’s very much focused and level-headed. A good solid man. I don’t see why Nigel can’t go all the way to the Premier League — and hopefully with Leicester.
“He’s a very smart man and one of his assets is he listens to people around him. And he has surrounded himself with the proper people.”
Meanwhile, Peterborough inched closer to joining Leicester in the Championship next year after Craig Mackail-Smith’s 25th goal of the campaign saw off Stockport.
Posh are now four points clear of
MK Dons in second place but the Dons have a game in hand and a superior goal difference.
Both sides are pushing for consecutive promotions after the Dons won League Two last season but Ferguson is confident posh will emerge victorious on this occasion.
Ferguson said: "I've always thought the promotion race would go right down to the final game of the season and that is still the case. We know that we will be promoted if we can win our final three games and we have managed the first part.
"Everything now comes down to a two-match season and we are prepared for every situation. I have always maintained that if we put in the right performances, we will pick up results.
"The game should have been over by half time and that would have been the case if we had scored a second goal.”
However, over in Milton Keynes, Roberto Di Matteo insists their dream of automatic promotion is still very much alive following their vital victory at
Scunthorpe.
Luke Chadwick was the hero after scoring the only goal of the game at Glanford Park and Di Matteo is happy to crank up the pressure on Posh.
"This was a hard-working performance and a good victory for us at a place which is very difficult to come," said Di Matteo. "It was a great goal by Luke Chadwick to put us in front but we then needed everyone working hard as a team to get this result.
"We can't control what others around us do, we`ve just got to continue trying to play our football and doing our own stuff. This season has gone very quickly and I`m delighted we are still up there challenging. We can still finish in second position with performances like that."
