Hartlepool have been boosted by the news Gary Liddle has signed a new contract with the club.

The midfielder, 22, was one of several players offered new terms at Victoria Park at the end of this season and joins Andy Monkhouse and Michael Mackay in agreeing deals.

Liddle, who has so far made 146 appearances for the club since joining in 2006, played both in the centre of midfield and at right-back during Pools` ultimately successful battle to avoid relegation from League One this term.

Meanwhile, Hartlepool`s chief scout Tommy Miller has resigned from his position after almost 12 years at the club.
