Tranmere manager Ronnie Moore hailed a 'magnificent performance' from his side after they beat leaders Leicester 2-0 at Prenton Park.

The Foxes had not previously lost in 23 League One encounters but they met their match in a vibrant Rovers side who secured victory through Antony Kay`s goal and a late penalty from Steven Jennings.

The result was a massive boost to Tranmere's play-off hopes and Moore said: "I could not have asked for more. It was a magnificent performance. Everyone played their part and I certainly could not pick out a man-of-the-match."

He added: "We got in their faces and stopped them from playing. Full credit to our lads. We produced some great football and scored a fine leading goal.

"This is obviously a hiccup for Leicester but I am sure they will go on to win the league. It was a vital win for us in our search for a top-six place.

"Now we must turn to Saturday and produce a similar display against Huddersfield to further enhance our chances."
