Swindon defender Sean Morrison is set to extend his loan deal at Southend into a second month.

The 18-year-old joined the Shrimpers in mid-November but made a dreadful start to life at Roots Hall by seeing red within 31 minutes of his debut.

Since serving a subsequent one-match ban, Morrison has established himself at the heart of Steve Tilson's defence.

And the Southend boss is delighted to have all but extended the centre-back's stay until January 9.

He told United's official website: "The paperwork is ready and hopefully we can get it sorted before Saturday. He will get better the more he plays and it's important we keep him because we don't have too many defenders right now."
