Scunthorpe goalkeeper Joe Murphy fears his season could be over after being injured in the League One play-off semi-final first leg against MK Dons.

Murphy was withdrawn with a couple of minutes remaining of the 1-1 draw with the MK Dons after suffering a reoccurrence of a groin injury. He was replaced by Josh Lillis and the understudy is now set to take a central role in the Iron's drive for promotion.

"Through the game I felt it tightening up," Murphy told the club's website. "It is not a pain one it is more of a stiffness one. I am disappointed and maybe I rushed back too early."

"I was told last Tuesday when I did it that it would be two to four weeks.

"It is really stiff at the moment and it doesn't look like it will be ready to go within the next couple of weeks."
