Southampton boss Alan Pardew has snapped up defender Neal Trotman on loan from Preston.

The 22-year-old centre-half has agreed to link up with Saints until January 3 and becomes Pardew's fifth signing since he took over at the start of the season.

"Neal will bring us an aerial presence in the box that we have been lacking and I am delighted we have been able to bring him to St Mary's on loan," said Pardew.

Trotman should go straight into the Saints squad for Saturday's visit of Brentford.
