Leicester have agreed a deal with Hearts to sign their long-serving defender Robbie Neilson.

The 28-year-old, who joined the Edinburgh club in the summer of 1996, will move to the Walkers Stadium on June 1 on a three-year contract.

Foxes manager Nigel Pearson told the club's official website, www.lcfc.co.uk: "We are absolutely delighted to have secured Robbie for the football club.

"He will bring quality, experience and a winning mentality, all of which we have no doubt will enhance our squad for the season ahead."

He added: "On meeting with Robbie, his leadership qualities were obvious. We are continuing our policy of only signing players who genuinely want to play for Leicester, and Robbie certainly fits that criteria."

Neilson played a key role in helping Hearts win the Scottish Cup in 2006 and has been instrumental in the Jambos qualifying for the inaugural Europa League next season.
