Oldham managing director Simon Corney has confirmed that striker Lee Hughes will not be returning to Boundary Park for the new season.

The former West Brom and Coventry forward turned down an offer to stay with the Latics and is currently locked in talks with League Two outfit Notts County.

Corney told the club's official website: "We made Lee an offer and after consideration he informed us he would not be signing.

"We understand he is now speaking to other clubs, meaning the manager will pursue other options."

Hughes rejected a contract offer in January which would have made him Oldham's highest-paid player.
