Lee Novak scored twice as Huddersfield went 10 league games without defeat for the first time since 2001 by beating Tranmere 2-0 at Prenton Park.

Struggling Rovers were not without their chances but little went right for them in front of goal. Les Parry`s side could not capitalise on a bright start and went behind after seven minutes.

Luke Daniels saved well from Jordan Rhodes but following the subsequent corner Novak headed in at the second attempt with an assistant referee judging that the ball had crossed the line.

The hosts refused to lie down and Marvin Sordell and Craig Curran saw efforts saved by Alex Smithies, before Ian Goodison blazed over from close range.

Smithies denied Sordell against soon after the re-start before Huddersfield extended their lead in the 48th minute. Novak latched on to a throughball from Antony Kay to beat Daniels with an angled shot.

Novak was denied a hat-trick by two late saves from Daniels but Lee Clark`s side had already made sure of all three points.
