Exeter's John O'Flynn expressed his relief after returning to action against Sheffield Wednesday following a five-month period on the sidelines.

The striker made a late cameo appearance from the substitutes' bench in the 3-0 defeat to the Owls after recovering from a knee injury.

"It was nice to get a run-out after so long out. I have been waiting a long time," O'Flynn told the Western Morning News.

"Obviously, the circumstances aren't great, but, personally, it was good to get out and have a run-out and have a few touches.

"I knew I would probably get 10 to 15 minutes. It is a start for me, and hopefully I can go onwards and upwards from here.

When asked if he was ready to start, O'Flynn added: "I don't think I am ready yet, it was nice to get 10 to 15 minutes, but it is only a start. I had an injection on Monday in Bristol and have had a couple of days rest, so we will see what happens."
