New Brentford signing Sam Saunders insists he can create even more goals for his best mate Charlie MacDonald as he waits to make his Bees’ debut.

Saunders was one of a trio of Dagenham & Redbridge players who made the short journey from Essex to Griffin Park after the Bees’ promotion to League One last year.

Danny Foster and Ben Strevens will be joining him in West London but he admits his mind was made up after a conversation with his best mate and Brentford’s leading scorer last year, MacDonald.

He told the Hounslow Chronicle: "I know Charlie already, we get on really well. He only had good things to say about the club, and he kept on urging me to sign.

"Now I have I want to give him the ammo to score some goals. I've always been consistent supplying goals, so hopefully I can carry on doing that for him.

"I could've earned more somewhere else, but I came here for footballing reasons. I want stability. The boss has got a long contract here, and the club is going in the right direction.”
