Oldham boss Dave Penney has seen on-loan defender Krisztian Timar return to Plymouth ahead of the home clash with Brentford.

Timar's spell at Boundary Park has been cut short by a hamstring injury which could rule the defender out for the remainder of the campaign.

Penney is hoping to bolster his struggling squad with new signings and his priority remains a striker.

He said: "We have been on the telephone all week to try and add some players to the squad and it is still ongoing.

"When you look at the statistics we are probably in the top 10 in terms of the number of goals conceded but the worst for goals scored."

Jon Worthington, Andy Holdsworth, Rob Purdie and Lewis Alessandra all remain sidelined through injury.

Lionel Ainsworth is in line to make his Brentford debut.

The former Watford and Derby winger has joined the Bees on a month's loan from Huddersfield and goes straight into the squad for the trip to Boundary Park.

Ainsworth was signed as a replacement for John Bostock, who returned to Tottenham at the end of his loan spell last week.

The Bees should otherwise be unchanged from the side which drew 1-1 with Southampton on Tuesday night.

Boss Andy Scott once again has a virtually full-strength squad to choose from with goalkeeper Nikki Bull the only absentee.

Bull is still recovering from the shoulder operation he underwent in October so Arsenal loanee Wojciech Szczesny keeps his place in goal.
