Sheffield Wednesday have signed prolific striker Ryan Lowe from Bury for an undisclosed six-figure fee.

The 32-year-old, who has already hit seven goals this season, has agreed a two-year contract at Hillsborough after Bury 'reluctantly' let him leave.

Lowe told Bury's official website: "From a football perspective I wish to put on record that these two years at Gigg Lane have been the happiest of my career."

He added: "However, when I was advised that Sheffield Wednesday were interested in me, I immediately informed the manager and directors of my wish to leave.

"The board of directors and management have, and always have done, everything possible in trying to keep me happy at Bury, but I made it clear that at this stage of my career this was simply an opportunity that I could not realistically turn down."

Lowe scored 53 goals in exactly 100 appearances for the Shakers.
