Southampton boss Alan Pardew claimed Rickie Lambert has the hardest shot in domestic football after the striker inspired a fourth successive win with a 3-0 victory over Tranmere.

Lambert took his tally to 17 league goals for the season with a second-half double in a clinical performance which continued Southampton's climb up the League One table.

"I don't think I've ever seen anyone hit a ball harder than Rickie," said Pardew. "He's been threatening to do that all season and he got it right in this game. He does practice in training but he's just a natural clean and hard striker of a football."
