Carlisle have signed former Stoke striker Vincent Pericard on a short-term deal.

The 26-year-old has impressed United manager Greg Abbott during a trial period and has agreed to remain at Brunton Park until January 12.

"He's been terrific," manager Greg Abbott told his club's official website. "He's been at big clubs and he has played at a very high level and his pedigree is there."

He added: "The lads have already enjoyed training with him as he has shown a real willingness to knuckle down and make an impression."

Pericard first came to England when he joined Portsmouth from Juventus in 2002 and has had subsequent spells with Stoke, Sheffield United, Plymouth, Southampton and Millwall.
