Peter Reid has dismissed reports he is set to become the manager of Southampton and insists he is happy in his role as head coach of the Thailand national team.

The former England midfielder, who previously managed Sunderland, Leeds and Coventry, is contracted until 2012 with the South East Asians.

He told the Bangkok Post: "I'd like to say that I know nothing about the reports and they were just speculation from England. I am happy to be the head coach of the Thai national team."

Reid, 53, played for the Saints during the 1993/94 season, but quashed suggestions he is set for a return to the club. He took charge of Thailand in September last year and has proved relatively successful in his first stint in charge of a national team having suffered just two defeats in 13 competitive games.
