MK Dons assistant manager Karl Robinson hailed his side's performance after they thumped Hartlepool 5-0 at Victoria Park.

Dons inflicted Pools` biggest loss at home since May 1994, with Robinson revealing fans of the north-east club even approached them after the final whistle to say they had produced the best display ever seen at Victoria Park.

"For that type of result and that type of performance to come at a place like Hartlepool, where teams don't like to come and play, makes it all the better," said Robinson.

"They don't lose many games here and don't concede many goals, so to score five and play like we did - so resolute and so solid - is very pleasing.

"It was a pleasure to watch and their fans clapped us off at the end and were coming to the dug-out to say we gave the best performance they have ever seen at this ground."

Strikes from Jermaine Easter, Peter Leven, Sam Baldock, Jason Puncheon and a Gary Liddle own goal secured the Dons' biggest ever away win, while Pools failed to muster a single shot on target.
