Swindon Town chief executive Nick Watkins has revealed that the club will operate with a smaller squad next season.

More than half of the Robins' current squad are out of contract in the summer and manager Danny Wilson is expected to have a clearout in order to cut costs at the County Ground.

"It's a big squad which needs trimming down, we need to bring in 'best of breed' in every area," Watkins told BBC Wiltshire.

"I think he (Wilson) has pretty much got a clear idea of who sits on the left hand side of the piece of paper and who's on the right."
