A goal in each half from Chris Lines and Darryl Duffy gave Rovers the points in a comfortable 2-0 win over Hartlepool.

Lines headed home powerfully from Stuart Campbell's third-minute corner and substitute Duffy doubled the advantage with a low 66th-minute shot after running on to Danny Coles' long ball.

Hartlepool lacked the cutting edge to match some promising approach play and came closest when Neil Austin's 87th-minute free-kick was brilliantly saved by Mikkel Andersen.

The Rovers goalkeeper also did well to parry a 51st-minute effort from Denis Behan and handled confidently throughout.

Rovers almost made it 3-0 in the closing stages when Mark Wright's shot was superbly blocked by defender Gary Liddle and then Lines had a low shot saved by Scott Flinders as the home side competently defended their lead.
