Southampton have completed the signing of Rickie Lambert from League One rivals Bristol Rovers for a fee in excess of £1million.
The 27-year-old striker has put pen to paper on a three-year contract with the Saints after passing a medical on Monday morning. Lambert, who will go straight into the squad for Tuesday's Carling Cup tie against Northampton, was joint leading scorer in the Football League last season with 29 goals.
Lambert said: "I am really grateful to everyone at both clubs for making this deal possible. The owner and chairman here have great plans for the Club, and I am really looking forward to working with Alan Pardew."
