Oldham boss John Sheridan saluted his side's resolve after retaining top spot in League One following the 1-1 draw against Huddersfield.

Ian Craney struck the breakthrough on the half-hour mark with an angled drive from six yards for his second goal in five games before Andy Liddell earned the Latics a share of the spoils.

Sheridan said: "There wasn't much quality but there was a lot of effort and will to win. We didn't get going properly in the first half but lifted ourselves after the break to create some decent chances."

He added: "Huddersfield made it very hard for us and stopped us from playing.

"We know we have to improve but sometimes you have to be satisfied with what you get. I was happy to get something out of the game and the good thing is that we are still right up there and unbeaten in eight games so far."
