Southend have extended the loan deal of George Friend for a further month.

The full-back has been on loan from parent club Wolves for the past month and has made five appearances, scoring one goal.

However, the news regarding fellow loanee Jean-Yves Mvoto is not as bright.

The 21-year-old, on loan from Sunderland, has been ruled out for at least another six weeks after suffering a setback in his recovery from a hip injury.
