Walsall boss Chris Hutchings revealed his concern for Emmanuele Smith after he sustained a serious injury in the 3-1 defeat at Millwall.

Smith hit the ground as Millwall keeper David Forde came out to deal with a second half corner and Hutchings said: "He has had an X-ray and we are just waiting on reports from what has happened. He was knocked out cold.

"When you are knocked out you don't know whether it's the back, the neck or whatever so obviously you have to take every precaution and rightly so."

Hutchings was pleased with the way his side had started the game, but admitted his frustration at how they had defended at set pieces.

He added: "If you don't defend it properly then you are going to concede goals, which is really disappointing. On certain days it doesn't come off and this was one of those days."
