Southampton will check on midfielder Lloyd James ahead of the home clash with Stockport.

The Wales Under-21 international scored Saints' goal in the 1-1 draw at Brentford in midweek but then suffered an ankle knock.

Morgan Schneiderlin came on for James at Griffin Park, and he is in line to start anyway with boss Alan Pardew planning to reshuffle his midfield.

Skipper Dean Hammond is still missing with a calf problem and striker David Connolly has yet to fully recover from the groin injury which has kept him out since the turn of the year.

Veteran full-back Graeme Murty is continuing his recovery from ankle-ligament damage and could be back next month, while fringe midfielder Oscar Gobern has a leg injury.

Stockport are boosted by the return of midfielder David Poole.

Poole will be added to the squad after completing a three-match ban.

Striker Jabo Ibehre remains suspended after he was sent off in last weekend's goalless draw at Carlisle.

MK Dons forward Ibehre last week joined County for 28 days on but saw red for two bookings at Brunton Park and now serves the second game of a two-match ban.

Defender Jonny Mullins sustained a knee injury in Tuesday's 1-1 draw at home to Brighton and is rated as doubtful.
