Southend defender Jean-Yves M'Voto has returned to his parent club Sunderland to continue his rehabilitation on a hip injury.

M'Voto went under the knife three weeks ago in Coventry, after the initial injury he picked up against Leeds in September flared up the following week during the Shrimpers 3-2 win at Brighton.

The big centre-back has made only six appearances for the club during his six-month stay due to the injury. He is not expected to return to Southend as his loan deal expires on January 10th 2010, with his rehabilitation expected to last for at least six weeks.
