Dagenham manager John Still has accused Gillingham of trying to unsettle striker Paul Benson.

Gills boss Mark Stimson has tabled a bid for Benson but Still insists no "serious" offer has been made for the 29-year-old.

"Mark Stimson rang me a while ago and asked what figure I'd be looking for to sell Paul Benson," said Still.

"I replied that Paul is not for sale but if he'd like to make an offer that I believe is a fair price I'd take it to the board. I told Mark it wasn't worth offering £15,000-£20,000 as it would be nowhere near enough," he added.

"After that the Gillingham chairman contacted one of our board members and said he was told Paul was available for £25,000. This was not true.

"At no time have Gillingham made a serious offer for the services of Paul Benson. Paul is very happy at Dagenham and all Gillingham are trying to do is unsettle the player."
