Mauricio Taricco is backing Gus Poyet to be a success in his first managerial post at Brighton.

Taricco revealed he did not have to think twice when former Chelsea midfielder Poyet offered him the role of assistant boss on the south coast.

"Mainly I came because Gus called me - the project to work with him and with the ideas that he's got to put in place here," said the Argentinian. "It's something I want to be part of and that was why, really, I accepted it. It's his ideas, what he wanted to do with the football team."

He added:"The way he manages people and the group. I don't think I have ever seen it as a football player.

"It is the way he approaches people and when he called me I said 'yes' straight away."
