Andy Scott has quashed rumours linking him away from Brentford and with the vacant manager’s job at Barnsley, and insists he wants to carry on his mission at Griffin Park.

Scott led the Bees to the League Two title last season, and they are amongst the League One pacesetters this term.

He told the Hounslow Chronicle: "When vacancies become available at clubs, names are always banded about, but I've heard nothing from Barnsley.

"I'm getting on with my job here, and until someone tells me otherwise I'm going to continue.

"I'm very happy at Brentford, and have assembled this squad for a reason."

Colchester United

Paul Lambert’s departure to Norwich may have upset some Colchester fans, but one man who wasn’t complaining is Matt Lockwood.

The experienced full back played his first game of the season against Gillingham last night, and admitted he was glad that Lambert moved to Carrow Road after ditching Lockwood from his squad.

He told BBC Essex: "I was banished to training with the kids; I didn't see the first team at all. When I heard he was going to Norwich I was probably the happiest man in Colchester.

"It was brilliant to be back out there and having a run about with the first team. I stayed mentally strong and fortunately things have turned round and things might change.”
