Crewe boss Gudjon Thordarson hailed his side after they recorded a thumping 4-0 win at managerless Brighton to climb out of the League One relegation zone.
Thordarson said: "It has been a massive achievement to get out of the bottom four.
"My players deserve great credit. My job is to help them and they are responding magnificently."
Billy Jones converted from the spot after Craig Davies handled in the box to set the visitors on their way.
A late flurry of goals began with a superb strike from midfielder Steven Schumacher before Jones rifled in his second with a long-range free-kick.
Debutant Gylfi Sigurdsson then stroked home an assured finish two minutes from time as the hosts flagged badly.
