Scunthorpe midfielder Sam Togwell insists his side are more than capable of securing a play-off spot if they remain unbeaten until the end of the season.

The Iron got their promotion bid back on track with a 3-2 victory at Hartlepool on Easter Monday and now lie two points adrift of sixth-placed Tranmere with two games in hand.

Togwell, who must now serve a two-match ban for accumulating 10 yellow cards, told the club's official website: "We know our destiny is in our own hands - we've got two games in hand on them [Tranmere]. If we win those matches we could be in contention for third or fourth place and then it all looks different."

He added: "Every match matters, although they do all season. It's a marathon not a sprint and you play 40-odd games for a reason.

"It's come down to the final few games and we have to make sure we're unbeaten between now and the end of the season."
