Hartlepool director of sport Chris Turner is relishing the chance to test his new-look side against Championship opposition in the Carling Cup.

Pools were handed a tricky trip to Coventry in Tuesday`s first round draw, but Turner insists his side can give the Sky Blues a tough examination.

He told the club`s official website: "We would have preferred to have been at home obviously but it's a draw we can look forward to."

He added: "It will be tough for us clearly to go away to a Championship club and it will be a test that we'll be relishing.

"I've never been to Coventry's new stadium so it will be a first for me and a lot of the players and the fans as well so we'll enjoy that.

"Coventry have a lot of history behind them and are a big club but we'll go there and give them a difficult game."
