Graham Turner admitted it had been a depressing season for the Bulls after their relegation was confirmed with a defeat to Huddersfield. The Bulls were jubilant last summer after promotion but they have been brought down to earth with a bump after an immediate return to League Two.
"It's a very sad day but I wouldn't have swapped the experience of playing at this level,” Turner told BBC Radio H & W.
"I said after the
Leicester game that we could have been in the top seven or eight in the second division and it would have been a fairly happy camp. It's probably not the time to go into detail - that might be done over the next seven days - but there is just a huge depression about the place after everything that happened last season."
"We will think about what needs to be said, what needs to be done, I've never acted too much in haste but certainly we've got to get a clear picture of what we've got to do now next season.”
One man whose side still have a chance of avoiding the drop is Russell Slade’s
Brighton after their 1-0 success at
Colchester. The Seagulls are still stuck in the bottom four but have given themselves a lifeline with their unexpected success at Colchester.
"We showed a lot of character and it gives us a lifeline," said Slade. "Colchester had a different shape to what we expected. I thought that the game was a bit messy in the first half from our point of view and Colchester had far too much possession for my liking.
"While it's still 1-0 it's very tense and the four minutes added on at the end felt like a lifetime.”
