Exeter striker Marcus Stewart admits he will not allow any room for sentiment when the Grecians take on his former club Yeovil in the second week of the new campaign.

Stewart left Huish Park last summer after 74 appearances and 14 goals, but the well-travelled striker admits he will be treating it like any other game.

"I look for the first fixture of the season, then what is happening over Christmas and then I look for the teams I have played for," the 36 year old told the Western Daily Press.

"Yeovil is obviously one, Huddersfield Town and Bristol Rovers. Of course it is a game I am looking forward to, there is no doubt about it.

“I look forward to every game and if I did not look forward to every game these days I would probably retire. But I look forward to it more so because Yeovil are one of my old clubs. It is a good fixture for the fans, derbies always are.

"It will be talked about the week before the game, the press will hype it up and the players have to be careful not to get caught up in that.

"You have to get on with it and treat it like any normal game, even though it is very hard to, especially for the lads that are local and for those like me who have played for Yeovil.

"It is obviously very hard to put your emotions to one side, but you have to and that is all part of being a footballer.”
