Gus Poyet was delighted with his dream start to life as Brighton manager as the Seagulls beat Southampton 3-1 at St Mary's.
Former Chelsea legend Poyet watched with some surprise as his new side romped to just their second away win of the season thanks to a first-half brace from Glenn Murray and a late goal from Welsh midfielder Andrew Crofts.
"I thought we were fantastic - I didn't know what to expect because we haven't had much chance to train but they were very confident and comfortable on the ball, even at a difficult place to play like this," said Poyet.
"It is still very early and there are still plenty of things we need to work on but I thought we deserved to win and I think we can only improve from here.
"I couldn't single anyone out because everybody did a fantastic job and I think we have lots of good things to take away."
