Port Vale have appointed Micky Adams as their new manager.

The 47-year-old, who parted company with Brighton in February, takes over from Dean Glover at the Coca-Cola League Two side after he left towards the end of last season.

Adams becomes Vale's fourth manager within 21 months after he beat off competition from former Cheltenham boss John Ward to the vacancy.

He said: "I am delighted to be here. It's a challenge I am looking forward to and hopefully we can restore the fortunes of this wonderful club."

Chairman Bill Bratt added: "Micky is one of the best managers we could have got. He is hard-working, enthusiastic and has great vision.

"He is the most high-profile manager we have had in the past 30 years and I am sure he can take us forward."
