Bury boss Alan Knill believes midfielder Damian Allen's versatility will prove crucial this season.
Allan, 22, has been handed a one-year contract after impressing Knill during pre-season and is now looking to cement a place in the side.
"Damian came in to earn a contract, and we've given him one," said Knill. "He can also play in various positions and he has made us think `we'd better sign him` and we have done."
