Bradford ended a run of eight home league matches without a win by beating bottom club Darlington 1-0 at Valley Parade.

It was their second win in four days after they beat League Two leaders Rochdale 3-1 at Spotland on Tuesday to get new manager Peter Taylor's reign off to a good start.

Leading scorer James Hanson scored the only goal of the match with a close-range header from Gareth Evans' right-wing cross after 26 minutes, but Bradford were unable to build on that lead and survived some anxious moments in the second half to complete their first home win in the league since October 24.

Home keeper Matt Glennon did well to turn Darlington's best effort - an angled shot from Josh Gray - round the post for a corner in the 55th minute.

But at the other end, Evans was unlucky to see his goalbound shot blocked by substitute Alan White and substitute striker Michael Boulding was twice off target in the closing stages.
