Gillingham forward Andy Barcham believes a change in formation has helped get the club`s promotion chase back on track.
The poor condition of the Priestfield pitch has necessitated a change to a 4-3-3 formation in the last two games and the Gills have rattled in seven goals - with Barcham netting three of them, including a brace in the 3-1 win over Macclesfield on Saturday.
He said: "I think this style and formation is going to cause most teams problems. It is quite hard to defend against."
He added: "I get more opportunities to get forward, although it is still on the left. As long as I am playing and scoring at the moment, I am happy.
"I think we are all looking to achieve promotion this season. It was always going to be tight so it was important we beat Macclesfield. If we can get another win against Bournemouth we will be right back in there again."
