Barnet goalkeeper Rob Beckwith has retired from professional football at the age of just 24.

Beckwith had his name circulated by manager Ian Hendon on Thursday in a bid to earn him a loan move away from the League Two side but the keeper has instead quit the club and turned his back on the game.

He said: "I've just not got the heart for it any more and I don't see the point in going through the motions."

He added: "I've had a lot of knockbacks in my time but this has nothing to do with injury.

"I just don't enjoy it anymore."
