Grimsby defender Ryan Bennett has committed his future to the club by signing a new four-year deal.

Bennett was a summer transfer target for Championship newcomers Peterborough, who made an offer in the region of £500,000, but the 19-year-old insisted he always wanted to remain at Blundell Park.

He told the club's official website: "At no point did I want to leave. It was not a hard choice for me to make in signing a new deal."
