Cheltenham have named Alan Bennett as their captain ahead of the new season.

The 29-year-old defender is a recent recruit at the Abbey Business Stadium following his release by Wycombe this summer.

Speaking to the club's official website, Bennett said: "I'm really happy to have been named captain but obviously it's all about us being a team of captains."

He added: "We can't wait to get started.

"It's all about working hard from this point on and making this a year to remember for Cheltenham."

Fellow defender Steve Elliott, who made over 40 appearances for Cheltenham last season, has been named as Bennett's vice-captain.
